Talks

When I moved to London approximately one hundred years ago with a dream of becoming a performance poet (frankly I blame Craig Charles) it took a good few years to realise that isn't an actual job for those with Zone 3 rent to pay. But it did turn me into an accomplished writer and performer.

My MA in Folklore Studies has made me an expert in all manner of weird and wonderful social history so if you are looking for a talk about ghosts, pubs or pubs AND ghosts* then it's meeeee you're lookin forrrrrrrr... And of course, my work with Hidden London has revealed all the secrets of the London Underground to me so if you want to hear about the tube, ghosts or the tube AND ghosts [okay we see where you're going with this ~ Ed.]

What I mean is: if you are looking for a talk with or without slides about anything on the weirder side of life (or death) then get in touch.

I've worked with spoken word and music groups Future Perfect and Not The Brontës at the Camden Fringe, the Bloomsbury Festival and in various venues across the city including the RVT and The Harrison.

I also facilitate Writing for Wellbeing sessions for my local community, both on and offline.

*talks not restricted to pubs and/or ghosts. Most recently I've given talks on the Cottingley Fairies (and my boyfriend Sir Arthur Conan Doyle); how to deconstruct our image of witches for the Women's Institute; and a deep dive into some local Lambeth legends.
